About
Jules was a dedicated Bristol-based painter, illustrator and animator.
After graduating with a BA (Hons.) in Graphic Design from UWE in 1997 and completing postgraduate studies in Animation in 1998, she established her creative home at the Jamaica Street Studios.
Juliet’s artistic practice was deeply rooted in texture, process and an intense way of working. Her background in charcoal-drawn animation- a painstaking process of building up and detracting from an image frame by frame- led to a lifelong love for charcoal as a medium. She was known for her striking, highly focused series of drawings of hands and landscapes, rendered beautifully on heavy, handmade watercolour paper.
Throughout her career, Jules exhibited widely and regularly across Bristol and Bath, displaying her paintings, illustrations and collages at the Bristol Old Vic, the Michael Tippett Centre, the Bath Society of Artists, and the annual Jamaica Street Open Studios. Her versatile talent also led to prominent commercial commissions, including set painting work for the beloved Aardman Animations Wallace & Gromit film The Curse of the Were-Rabbit as well as illustration projects for the National Trust.
This website is a space to celebrate Juliet's enduring creative spirit and to share the artworks she left behind with the friends who meant so much to her.
